Reaching LLN
Louvain-la-Neuve (LLN) is a small pedestrian town situated 30 km Southeast of Brussels. It can be reached easily by car and train. Please note that Louvain-la-Neuve is different from Louvain (Leuven in Dutch).
To reach LLN by train from any station in Brussels, ask for a ticket to « Louvain-la-Neuve » (NOT Louvain or Leuven). Take the Brussels-Namur-Luxemburg line (trains every half hour, week-end included), get off at Ottignies (about 35 min.) and switch to a train to Louvain-la-Neuve (about 8 min.). Some trains go straight from Brussels to Louvain-la-Neuve but it takes more time.
Brussels National Airport (Zaventem) is linked to Brussels by a train service: 4 trains/hour between 5.30 a.m. and 12 p.m. during weekdays and between 7 a.m. and 12 p.m. during week-ends (about 15′). Ask for a ticket to « Louvain-la-Neuve » (NOT Louvain or Leuven) and get off at the station Brussels Nord (a 12-15 min. ride). Take the Brussels-Namur-Luxemburg line (see above).
From Brussels South Charleroi Airport, take a bus from the airport (Bus A) to reach the Charleroi South station (about 20′). There are 2 buses/hour during weekdays (..h03 and ..h33) and 1 bus/hour during week-ends (..h10). You can purchase at the airport a ticket « billet bulk » at the bus stop (door n°2). To start, the bus rides to Charleroi Sud railway station and the rail journey to any station in Belgium. The bulk ticket is only on sale at the airport. You should aim between 1h and 1h30 to reach Louvain-la-Neuve.
